ANTIOCH — Speed and alcohol might have been a factor in an Antioch crash Sunday morning that involved two other drivers and sent four people to the hospital.
Antioch police responded at 10:34 a.m. to a report that a vehicle had rolled over on Hillcrest Avenue near the Crossings Shopping Center.
They discovered a black SUV that had been traveling north on Hillcrest Avenue had hit a tree in the center median, then crossed into the southbound lanes of the busy thoroughfare.
A silver sedan that was headed south on Hillcrest Avenue collided with the SUV, and a third vehicle that was also southbound crashed into the sedan.
Emergency medical personnel responded in four ambulances along with Contra Costa County FIre District crews on two ladder trucks and an engine.
They treated the four people hurt in the accident, among them a pregnant woman. Two had injuries that were major but not life-threatening.
The investigation’s preliminary findings are that speeding and alcohol might have been involved in the accident.
